With the New Year comes New Year’s resolutions. We all know that “weight loss” is usually on the top of our list and that of our family and friends as well. It’s no secret that good old diet and exercise are the key to our success. Sounds simple enough, but after a week, two weeks, three weeks or a month later, we’ve already  lost momentum and are right back to our old habits.

Personally the exercise part is the easy part for me. It’s the eating healthy that always gets me especially with my hectic travel and work schedule and a busy social life. Eating healthy takes hard work, effort, diligence and time to ensure you’re getting just the “right nutrients” and eating the “right food”.

Despite contrary belief that I’m always eating all those yummy cupcakes and decadent desserts all the time since that’s all you see in my pictures and posts, I’ll let you in on my ” little secret”. It’s called RESET.

The Usana RESET program is a 5 day nutritionally balanced program of macronutrients (high-quality protein, good carbohydrates, and healthy fats) and micronutrients (vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants). Just like the name implies, this program allows you to “RESET” your diet, your mind and your health.

Is this a detox program you ask? My answer is “yes, but a healthy, scientifically based one” unlike many of those dangerous, unhealthy, gimmicks out there.

Being a nurse and an avid health nut, there is no way I dare consume anything or put my body through any health risks without first researching the efficacy, safety and effectiveness of any health programs out there.

So what’s the big deal with RESET you say and does it really work? My answer is “yes” once again! I swear by it. I’ve done the program a total of three times over the course of the past year and every time I do, it “resets” me back to my healthy eating habits after I’ve gone for weeks or months of unhealthy eating during my traveling escapades.

The program is simple—every day you drink three Nutrimeal™ shakes and eat an Oatmeal Raisin Nutrition Bar, a Peanut Butter Crunch Nutrition Bar, a serving of fruit, and a serving of vegetables and take the AM and PM HealthPak™ (multi vitamins and anti-oxidants).  You’re also encouraged to drink 64–80 ounces of water, and do some mild exercise, such as walking for 30 minutes every day for 5 days while on the program.

USANA guarantees all the food in RESET to be low glycemic.  Low-glycemic foods are known to release energy slowly and do not cause drastic blood glucose spikes and crashes. Therefore, you don’t feel hungry as quickly, so you don’t feel an overwhelming need to eat, which may help you lose weight.† In addition, the fiber content of RESET helps provide a long-lasting sense of fullness to help reduce hunger levels throughout the day.*

Once I’m done with RESET, I continue my healthy eating habits with the Nutrimeal shakes and protein bars and incorporate more low-glycemic foods. My purse is always stuffed with extra Oatmeal Rasin bars so I’m never in a jam when I need a healthy snack while I’m on the go.
